Coupon Issue

Hello

i am having an issue with the coupon function. I created a coupon code for 10 percent off.
The issue is the the discount is automatically applied to all orders without having to enter it.
We want it so the client has to enter the discount code to get the discount.
how do I go about getting this issue corrected?

Please delete this post - solved the issue - programmer added 10 percent off promotion - hence the auto discount

Correct, just to clarify for others, the coupon must be entered by the user... the promotion is a global site promotion.
