  • Stripe - Strong Customer Authentication required

    Anybody else getting the emails from Stripe;
    Copied from the link in the email;
    European payments are changing

    PSD2 regulation will require Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) for many online payments. Stripe can help you get ready.

    This is a bit confusing for me and I wonder if anybody has covered and implemented this, if so how and what did you do?

    Hello:

    So we are covering and implementing the SCA requirements as we speak. PayPal will be covered as they are their own system, we are finishing stripe up right now and it will be fully SCA complaint along with full retail support and subscription support in easycart. We will follow up with Square as well on this so that our 3 major vendor gateways are covered. Other payment systems will be looked into as well as we get closer.

    We will push some news on how EasyCart is doing as we get a little closer. If you utilize stripe, that is the system to go with, it has the most features and largest implementation we have in EasyCart at this time. Nothing should be required on your end accept to upgrade your software as we push updates.

      Thanks for the reply;
      We are on the "Legacy system" so will that system be updated for these SCA changes?

        they should be... but come January 1, you will not get any fixes or updates after that.... so I would not use WP EasyCart after January 1st unless you are current on your updates. You will miss any further updates at that point moving forward.... but we should have the SCA stuff in for a few of the gateways by then.

          We received another email from Stripe today and the following is part of that email;
          Although we anticipate a gradual enforcement of SCA, we expect the first banks to start declining payments without two-factor authentication on 14 September. As a result, we still recommend updating your integration before 14 September to help avoid increases in declined payments. These changes can require frontend, backend, and client bindings version changes, so we recommend that you start updating your integration as soon as possible.
          Do you think your updates will be done by the 14th September?
