Cart looks really bad on mobile out-of-the-box...fix?

The shopping cart looks really, really bad on mobile. I've had many customers complain and need help trying to pay using their smartphones. See attached. It's really not super good for mobile out-of-the-box..it's actually bad.

How can the cart be set to actually look good on mobile?
