Paypal Error when trying to connect EasyCart

I tried using the automated installation that runs us through all the steps, including connecting to Paypal but each time we try to connect we get an error in Paypal that says "There was an error connecting". I've gone through documentation on Paypal and on Easy Cart and cannot find an answer. Does Easy Cart have a special "API" name we should be using to grant permission?
