Automatic change of Product Image

Is there a way to have the product image automatically change when the product is sold out. I would like to warn potential buyers right off the bat (on the store page) that something is sold out. So if the product sells out, the image changes to one with "SOLD OUT" written across it. I know that it is clear on the next screen (the product page), but it would be great to have it on the store page as well. Or should I post this in feature requests.

currently we do not have image changes for sold out items, only on the text for add to cart is being replaced, etc... no need to post in feature request, we will look to see if it is something we want to impliement.
