Flat rate shipping by Item

is it possible to set a Flat rate shipping by Item/product?

Sure, if you go into each product, you can set a handling fee, which essentially gets calculated into the product's shipping... so shipping may end up being zero, but because each has a handling charge, the shipping will also add that... it all goes into the shipping section on checkout.

How can I make a distinction between shipping Priority Mail versus those products - DVDs and Books - that can post Media Mail? I can't control via the weight because often the books weigh more than the ceramics and glass items that I sell.

EasyCart is not able to separate types of shipping on products like that... sorry.
