Image size zooming problems

Whilst appreciating you advise the ideal size of an image for the cart is 800 x 800 as this gives the zooming effect when hovered over with the mouse, some of our products are long and thin, and keeping in proportion with 800 means it has to be 216 x 800. The downside of this is when you hover over the image in the store you only see the lower half of the image in the top left hand corner without any zooming effect.

It would seem that when both aspects exceed the minimum element of 800, tried 800 x 2963. which maintains the proportions, it gives the hover/zoom effect, however the image size on the screen is massive as is the file size 182.2kb. Reducing the image size, whilst keeping it in proportion to 400 x 1482 just replicates the original image size in the hover/zoom effect.

In some cases we only have small images, 200 x 200, hovering over them shows a blank box in the hover/zoom area.

Is there any way to achieve the hover zoom effect with images that do not comply with the 800 x 800 size?

Hello:

So the image zoomer may not be an ideal situation for many customers. You can disable it in our basic settings section. Some themes offer an actual click and open popup system that displays the image well instead of the zoomer in some situations.
