Temporary disable cart and checkout

Urgent request; We make our own products and currently have a machine issue so are unable to accept any new orders so we would like to know if it's possible to keep the Shop items displayed but disable the purchase of ALL products until our machine problem can be cured. We would rather not put the whole site into Maintenance mode.

Sure, just go to settings -> products area and put it into 'catalog mode'. removes the purchase and add to cart buttons.
