Yes, this is something we may need to have a support ticket for in order to see these strange behaviors like this on paypal smart buttons. We do have a setting in the paypal advanced options to change the style and to change the visibility of the smart buttons on the cart page, but the checkout page it should always show the express paypal button and not disappear. It makes me think that maybe something in a theme or plugin is unloading things for some reason in your setup, but not certain.

I cannot help you and the I believe the two checkout pages are the same page anyway, this one is over to support, maybe they know what your Easycart system is doing or not!Originally posted by Dave Miller View Post
Hi, I get the same result on both checkout pages, the PayPal button appears briefly then vanishes.

The first Checkout page or the last Checkout page. With us we did not want it on the first page as it stopped a customer finding out that they could also use a credit/debit card on our Stripe payment option so we disabled the Paypal Express button showing on that first Checkout page forcing customers to go through shipping and onto the final Checkout page to be given the choice between Paypal and Stripe, they don't know its Stripe but just a direct credit/debit card option. So do you mean that first checkout page?

thanks for the update, yes, we do have the option now to remove paypal express on the cart, so customers must go through checkout... then they can choose paypal or credit card using your processor at the end. We also added some visual design elements such as color of buttons, shape of buttons on paypal, etc... should help make the flow better.

Update for Josh, We have now switched again to Paypal Express after your latest newsletter showed us how to stop displaying the Paypal option on the first checkout screen, our customers now have to continue to payment with the Checkout button then filling in their details or enter as a returning customer then get the second checkout screen where we have the payment options of Stripe or Paypal. The removal of Paypal on the first checkout screen was taken by us as Stripe in our case is the preferred payment method and is also cheaper on charges than Paypal.

I have tried to perform the upgrade to Express several times and it always results in the SUBMIT ORDER button disappearing on the Submit Payment page. So I've had to go back to the old way or people can't pay.... I have a business PayPal account, so that's not the issue.

Yep, but you've been warned
Standard redirects will go away in favor of express and keeping things on your site! LOL

Back on Standard Paypal, Just have to ignore the message at the top of all the Easycart pages asking us to "Click to upgrade to Paypal Express" until we have to upgrade that is!

So ya, you can still flip easycart pro or premium back to the standard method though, this will remove it from the cart's startup page... you can keep the business account, I don't think that influences the fees, at least here in the states it doesn't... but I was referring to the flow you wanted... go back to the original method where you keep customers on the last checkout page as it was before... just turn off paypal express...

Interesting your charges are different to ours in Europe. We have now updated Paypal to a Business account so going back to Standard doesn't really matter and the Paypal charges haven't changed anyway. I have put some extra text on our Cart page above and below the [ec_cart] link. https://justlasered.co.uk/cart/Originally posted by jjones View PostAh, interesting, that is quite the spread... didn't realize this was a european situation either. I just talked with Matt, the PayPal standard system is still in the Pro & Premium right now, so you might go in and just disable express and use paypal regular. It will eventually be phased out as they are moving toward this standard and the IPN that is on the older standard method is finicky at best with WordPress, but that should work for a while...
I was looking at this sheet for paypal: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees
The UK version of that paypal fees link is different to yours in the US!Last edited by Tonyjustlasered; 05-10-2018, 09:21 AM.

No Paypal is 3.4 to 3.9 percent plus 20p whereas Stripe is 1.4% +20p European cards or 2.9% +20p for non European cards. so paypal charges more.Originally posted by jjones View Postpretty similar aren't they?

Sure, makes sense I think... PayPal's system feeds these smart buttons. They actually changed based on a number of variables like where you are coming from globally or what device you are using to enable venmo and others.... we don't control that section, paypal feeds those smart buttons in this new integration, which is the cool part... but yes, customers can pay right there with a credit card and it will also process through paypal's express system. Stripe, Square, Authorize, First Data, these live processors that process on your site will only occur on the last page of checkout... PayPal express is the only one that does this before the cart checkout. If you do not feel you like it there, then you will need to just disable paypal. I don't think the fee difference on those two is to much though? pretty similar aren't they?
