What's Coming in First Release of EasyCart?


WordPress's EasyCart has been almost a year in the making... and we are filling it full of features. While first releases don't always contain everything, we hope to shed some light on what will be included and what will not be included or on our future roadmap. If you have suggestions, things that may fit into a commercial eCommerce system, feel free to post them up.

Note: If you wish to have an idea successfully make it into the software, please remember that your individual or unique requests are often pushed back while features that benefit everyone or a larger group are pushed forward.


Key Features

• Product Displays with both Detailed product views and also quick view and quick add to cart behavior.
• Products can have options, option price changes, and even option image changes. Now you can show that red t-shirt when they select a red option.
• Sell Gift Cards that automatically are entered into your system, and customers can redeem at checkout.
• Sell Downloads (videos, PDF's, e-books, software, music) and customers can download when purchase is successful.
• Take Donations, have a product where the customers enter a price, letting them have control of how much they wish to give.

I'm currently testing Easy Cart one one of my sites and so far I really like it. A couple of features I think would improve the Easycart System, and be beneficial to my self and others would be Product Categories & an option to add some custom html "Header or Footer" to appear on the product description page for all product within that category. Also for each product category could be a index page for listing sub categories and products within the given category, and the ability to add a description and meta data to appear on the category index. & finally the ability to connect each category to individual wordpress pages. Hope you understand what i've said as i'm not too good at explaining things. Would be great to have these features and options.

I think I see what you are looking for, and we were talking about expanding this section. Essentially a category, or menu section, it would be nice to customize some of those pages, like have a banner graphic for mens t-shirts, maybe some custom text above that category/menu if you go there. I know we improved the SEO for those right now, but it can continue to expand like you are saying.



We already have a category builder, where you can throw any products into a category, such as 'Summer Sale Items', but that is only used right now for the promotions and coupons stuff. Maybe we could expand that so you can build your own pages.

Just a quick reply to this feature request, we now do have banner images for each menu category that can be uploaded and then integrated into a theme as per the user's design. We also have seo data for each menu cateogry as well as title changes for those pages.

As another option, we now have some shortcode we are developing that will allow pages to be direct links to a category, which is very cool as well. Giving you the ability to link a wordpress page to a specific category in the menu, manufacturer id, or other options.

It would be very handy to allow coupons by category or be able to do multiple checkboxes by manufacturer or category. I want to apply a coupon to all items EXCEPT one manufacturer.
