Automatic Shipping email in Orders section

When I ship an order and add the tracking code and then click the email box does this mean the customer will be emailed the data I just entered ?
If not how / can I do this through the orders section somehow ?

Yes, if you click the 'email' box, then the customer will receive their order confirmation again with the inclusion of the actual shipping carrier and shipping # that you entered telling them that is what the shipping information is for that order. If you leave that unchecked and update the order, then it just does not send the email to the user.

you can change an order email address to your own, and save, thus able to test the process on yourself if need be.
