Adding items to a category by age of listing

I have set up a SALE category and want to add my oldest listings to it, ideally by the stock 'ID' number ( ie the oldest 250 items in inventory ). I cant seem to find a way to do it. There is no option that I can see from from the 'Manage Products' page and the 'Add Item to Category' page only lists by Title, Price or SKU. Any suggestions welcome
